If you are referred by the Practice to the hospital, you should receive an acknowledgement from them within a couple of weeks. If you do not hear from them, please let the surgery know so that we can ensure that the referral has been received and is being processed accordingly.
Following a referral, you will be asked to attend an appointment at the hospital or other provider. If you do not attend the appointment, the hospital may send you a further appointment. However, they may discharge you from the waiting list and you will need to be re-referred by your GP to the hospital.
Please bear in mind that it is not the responsibility of the practice to ensure that patients attend appointments at the hospital or any other type of medical service provider.
